Yes, it’s true. The gray prototype was in fact a Takara-led release of Megatron in the newer, tidier Masterpiece scale to go along with MP-10. It looks awesome.

Alerts of a new terrorist threat hit Weibo (Chinese Twitter) today around 8:00 AM CST. Authorities were on the scene immediately and fortunately no civilians were hurt. No terrorist organizations have yet taken responsibility for the attack, which has lead citizens of the world to surmize who the responsible parties may be. Many have pointed the finger at Third-party entities, while others believe an entirely new mysterious shadow organization called the attack. What is becoming clear as the day progresses is that this may actually be an inside job from the authorities at TakaraTomy of Japan. The company gave no comment when questioned.
Only time will tell, but until then, no one can sleep safe.

Did you know that today is a very special day in Transformers history? On this day, August 8th, 2016, 30 years have passed since the theatre release of Transformers: The Movie in 1986. I was but a wee lad when I first gazed upon this film with all it’s glory. The swear words, the death, the amazingly-animated transformation sequences, and of course, the best of it all, Planet of Death Unicron debuting in the Transformers mythos!
Here comes RIPT Apparel with some amazing exclusive shirt designs to celebrate 30 years of this amazing piece of animated history that steered the Transformers brand to late-game success.
All three of today’s designs are exclusive to RIPT Apparel, meaning you won’t find them at any other websites. They are available until 11:59 PM CST for $11. The price raises $5 on each item featuring these designs until noon on August 9th, so if you’re on the fence, get off of it and pick up one of these amazing designs!

“The Crossing of Quintessa” created by artist Ninjaink.

I just thought it was time for me to fess up and say that pretty much every major prediction I made this year for Transformers comics was wrong as fuck. Don’t listen to me. Especially if you listen to Seibertron.com‘s Mainframes Podcast where all we discuss is this comic.

Last night around 1:24 Central time, the Transfan world was once again set ablaze by one of the first full-body robot reveals of a character in the upcoming Transformers film. We got to see that Hot Rod was finally making his prime time debut in the TF movie franchise. Of course, no one seemed happy about this at all except the Transformers 5 marketing team who was watching agape as their hashtags were propelled into the stratosphere.
One of the best responses about this came from well-established Transformers Fan Sid Beckett, which you can see below.
I’ll save you all any sort of diatribe about why this Hot Rod sucks or is awesome and just leave you with this photo to reminisce of the days of yore.

Sins of the Wreckers concludes today after much anticipation. The release schedule was not quite as rock solid as the creator originally had anticipated. If you’re like to know more about the delays, you can check out this personal blog from Nick Roche. Yes Nick, we forgive you!
Well tons of my predictions were WRONG!!!!!!
- Beast Wars Megaton was not the mastermind of this story.
- Sideways was not involved at all.
- Noisemaze was not involved at all, as a character, but just simply a location.
However… quite a few guesses were CORRECT!!!
- Ostaros was indeed our fan-favorite Springer. What implications this means for the future… well I’ll save that for another blog.
- Hubcap was in bed with Mayhem and was subverting the Wreckers in order to bring down corruption.
The read was definitely satisfying. The artwork? even greater! Here’s hoping this is not the last Transformers will see of Nick Roche in the near future!

Anyone invested in the last 4 issues of Transformers: More Than Meets The Eye will be on edge for the next 30-some days. Luckily Game of Thrones will be well over before the next issue drops, but we were all victim to a Walking Dead-style Season Finale cliff-hanger to muse over.
Hints have been dropped over the course of the last 50 issues to many of the on-going mysteries, but sometimes the biggest hints are in between the cracks. The solution to the riddle can be right in front of us by looking at the things that AREN’T said.
For instance, the second ‘season’ of MTMTE thrust us right into the thick of it with Megatron aboard The Lost Light with a new body. The fact that this is a new rebuild for Megatron has been mentioned sparingly seems like a hint. There’s also a lot of fan backlash and criticism about how More Than Meets The Eye is a story about Transformers that “don’t transform”. While at base level I can admit that the transformations are of almost third level importance compared to the character and world building of this story, it may have been an intentional choice on the author’s part. Could there be some big twist regarding the omittance of Megatron’s alt-mode?
The general theories are that Megatron’s body is just a slight tweak to his Robots In Diguise / Dark Cybertron appearance where he was most definitely a battle tank of sorts. This design was his most recent configuration prior to the events in MTMTE, and so it could be said that all we are seeing is a new artist’s take on the current design. Sure, maybe…
But then why didn’t we see a sketch of Megatron’s alt-mode in Alex Milne’s initial design reveals? He typically likes to show fans some of the cool design work he does for these books, which he’s mention is done off the clock. When he revealed the new Megatron, there wasn’t an alt-mode sketch. No one thought jack shit about it at the time, but I’m raising an eyebrow or two.
What does this mean? Of course I don’t know, I could just guess but I’m getting really sick of being totally wrong. I will close with this interesting tidbit that harkens ALLLL the way back to Escalation issue 5. Fellow MTMTE-fan and Seibertron.com podcaster Scotty P sent me a private message pointing out some eerily similar Megatron Moments to something that happened in MTMTE 54… you be the judge, I’ll be the jury, and James Roberts? The executioner.

A day after surmising on Bottalk that the Machinima Transformers Combiner Wars animated project was lost in development hell, we are treated to a nice screen-cap tease from Hasbro and friends!
An announcement was made by Hasbro today that a prelude series to Transformers: Combiner Wars will be launching on various channels including YouTube and Facebook next week on June 28th! Holy cow, it’s really happening! This series will include four episodes and is mean to prepare fans for the real deal.
From the images provided, a few things can be surmised, specifically Starscream whose body appears to be based on the leader Combiner Wars toy, the current comic version, G1, and specifically the Cyber Battalion figure seen below. Black guns?? Hello!
The full show is set to debut on August 2 on whatever the shit go90 is. I’m sure that we are bound to see this via other channels. In the light of the new Voltron reimagination on Netflix, I’m wondering if Hasbro wishes they could go back to the negotiating table. This series could’ve slayed many dragons if it were on Netflix.
I’ve actually just realized that the Slipstream-looking purple Windblade repaint pictured on Menasor’s arm is actually a brand new character named Maxima! Check her our in badass glory below.
Oh, and if the fact that 50% of the 6 images released so far for this series feature Windblade doesn’t make you roll your eyes, then you’re in luck! It appears we are bound for much wind and much blades come August. I can’t wait!
