Hangin at Botcon 2011

I’m here. I made it this morning.

I was lucky enough to attend the customizing class being held this morning. Apparently things ran more smoothly than ever before today. Wow, it’s hard to believe small children in China churn these figures out en-masse!!!

Anyway, until I get full internet access, this will suffice. For now please, FOLLOW ME ON TWITTER for consistent updates.

Here are some things I can reveal after ‘strategically’ over-hearing some things by Botcon staff in the lobby:

  • Shattered Glass two pack attendee exclusive: Shattered Glass Galvatron + Shattered Glass Thundercracker.  This is the Cybertron Evac and Classics seeker mold.  THIS IS GOING TO BE THE HOT SET!
  • Animated Sideswipe is part of the set.
  • Other options for the custom class figure were the Animated Rodimus & Animated Jazz molds, since they were the only others that were availble to the club to use for this purpose.
  • Rodimus as Sunstreaker was considered for the custom class figure, but ultimately the Arcee mold was chosen due to it’s simplicity.  Rodimus is a very complex mold.
  • “The Stunti-con Job” name for the Botcon 2011 Comic is meant to be a play on “The Italian Job,” a caper / heist movie.

First Transformers Prime toy revealed – Arcee

Transformers Prime Arcee figure

An awesome new aesthetic for Transformers

Like always, when it rains it pours!

Transformers Prime toys are DEFINITELY currently in production, as rumors have stated. We got our first look at Arcee today, who is in the form of a motorcycle.

Motorcycles have always plagued Transformers designs since the likes of G1 Groove and Wreck-Gar, but the modern age has provided many creative solutions to this difficult alt-mode. Arcee appears to have an incredibly articulated robot mode followed by a somewhat stocky alt-mode.

Some have said the design of this toy is a cross between Animated and the Movie designs. Feel free to make your own opinions on that, but I think we can all agree the toy looks great!

More War for Cybertron characters – Slipstream, Arcee, Zeta Prime, Cliffjumper, Brawl

War for Cybertron Autobots

High Moon Studios had a press event recently that many of the longest-standing Transformers sites were invited to. On display was some of the production art for the game and it is incredible! Check out posts about this at Seibertron and TFW2005.

From what I can see, we get a glimpse at a ton of the environments and most importantly, the characters themselves!

It has been recently revealed that the chracter I suspected to be Onslaught was actually Brawl.  That’s great because the chracter looks very convincingly to be that ‘other’ Combaticon.

Of particular interest to me is the female-looking jet Decepticon on the High Moon’s Decepticon roster board.  If you ask me, this looks like a dead-ringer for a War For Cybertron version of Animated’s Slipstream!  What a cool character to bring in!  Female seekers have been a part of fan fiction since it started and now it’s becoming canon.

Speaking of she-bots, it looks like the autobots’ femme fatale Arcee is on hand to do some damage.  We also see a little red bot in the forme of Cliffjumper.

And finally, we get a good look at Zeta Prime.  He has a likeness to IDW’s Sentinel Prime, but now that Sentinel has been re-cast a pompous bootlicker in Animated, it appears the Prime previous to Optimus has been ret-conned to be Zetz Prime.  I can deal with change like that.

This game is going to be epic!  I hope you have your pre-order in… I still need to do it!   I’m voting Shockwave this year!
