Master-peace? – MP-10ASL Convoy (Atmos Safari Lebron Ver.) scores a three

He shoots, he scores!!!!!!

Welcome to the new world of Transformers Masterpiece collecting. If you thought Bapes were a scourge, if you couldn’t believe MP-44’s retail price was over $400, if you thought Ghostbusters x Transformers Masterpiece toys were just hogwash… well I have three words for you bucko:

Earlier this year, we were treated to incredible mock-ups of MP-10 Masterpiece Convoy at Wonderfest 2019. These crazy decos were billed as some kind of Atmos x Transformers collaboration. It was very difficult to find any details about these as far as their authenticity or expectations of mass release. The general consensus is that one or more of these figures MIGHT see a wide release or one of the decos may see a limited run in Japan, similar to the Bape crossover figures.

Well, my fellow Collecticons, today brings us even more news. The first official Atmos crossover with Transformers goes on sale March 2nd in Japan along with the NIKE LEBRON XVI LOW “SAFARI” shoes. See for yourself at Atmos Japan.

The man, the myth, the machine.

“OH MY GOD!!! HOW DO I GET IT?!”

Well, there’s not a ton of info yet, since I’ve never attempted to purchase from the Atmos Japan store living in the states, but I’m working hard to get the details. Here’s what we know:

  • It’s being released on Saturday March 2nd, 2019 in Japan. No time is mentioned but apparently the stores open at 11 AM Tokyo JST (I’ll just do the math for your lazy asses and tell you the stores open March 1st, 8 PM CST)
  • The MP-10ASL Convoy will be available in-person at Atmos Japan stores for ¥20,000 + tax (approx $181). No word yet on if it will be available on their webstore or not, but there may be hope. These are the stores that open at 11 AM JST.
  • If you want to prepare for the online sales rush, you might want to create an account on Atmos Japan. Good luck!
  • The shoes will be available online for ¥17,500 + tax but it’s likely to be a very busy time on the site. Here is the site, no specific link for the products is currently available as of this posting.
  • The shoes, but sadly not the action figure, will be available in the USA on March 2nd at 10 AM EST at regular sneakerhead outlets and Nike.com. Price is $175 + tax.

So there you have it. If this is any indication for what’s next, we are likely to see a LOT of reuses of the MP-10 mold for these shoe collaborations. Good luck Collecticons, and hopefully this doesn’t make those completists out there say “Master-peace!” if they haven’t already.

MP-10ASL Convoy will be available while supplies last at Collecticon.toys but expect a heavy after-market mark-up!

Botcon 2013 Machine Wars possibilities

Botcon Machine Wars Seekers

Machine Wars Seekers Thundercracker and Skywarp

With Botcon 2013 on everyone’s mind, it’s time to play that old game of “what the heck are the toys going to be this year?”  We know Machine Wars, but what molds and characters?  There really aren’t too many to pick from, and we are sure tom see some brand new “who the heck is this?” characters as well.  Thanks to the lovable Air Hammer from Bottalk, we can speculate all we want while perusing his digibashes.

Ultimately, the choices made for these toys is what will either steer me clear or near Botcon 2013.  Are you going?

Hasbrotoyshop is still a piece of shit

Fuck you

Cryin' a river

Seriously, I’m getting so exhausted from this shit.  I was patiently waiting for this stuff to go on sale, had alerts on, was in chat rooms where people were conversing about this… I did everything right this time!  I went to the page and the Shockwave Hiss tank was sold out before it even loaded.  Not only that, I had Bruticus in my cart, and then when I checked out they said it was out of stock!  That is some seriously whack shit!  What kind of shopping cart software does this two-bit company run?  Between this and the Mondo sales, I think I ought to just slit my wrists and bathe in my own blood.

But then again, it’s just stupid toys.  Can’t wait to set my zombie cliffjumper on fucking fire.

Post Botcon 2012 predictions and thoughts – Cybertroncon Asia exclusives not so exclusive

Transformers G1 Hoist Cybertroncon reveal

This just in from 2012 Cybertroncon - Asia-only right? I'm calling bullshit brigade on that one.

So Botcon 2012 has come and gone and with it some surprising revelations. The most important of these I am listing below in no particular order:

  • Transformers Collector Club subscription service starting soon with 6 exclusive figures available in the initial roll out.  This subscription service is expected to replace the usual 1 or 2 club exclusive figures that are available each year.  This will make for all intents and purposes a second boxed set of toys for fans and members of the TFCC.
  • Transformers Generations will induct a new voyager class starting with War for Cybertron Soundwave, later being repainted to Soundblaster.  It can be expected that this is the size class for the all but confirmed Fall of Cybertron Grimlock figure to rival the giant Bruticus.  We might even see a reinvented Megatron or Optimus Prime in this size class.
  • All the drama and fan rage over the mixmatched War for Cybertron Bruticus figures can be put to bed after the more video-game accurate paint-scheme will be available as a San Diego Comic Con exclusive set.  Also showing up at SDCC is the Zombie Cliffjumper figure that seemingly vanished after the reveal at Botcon 2011.
  • MP10 will be released at Toys R Us with all accessories and a new paint job.  The only question now is the price
  • All the Cybertroncon Asia-market-only exclusives revealed a few months ago may not be as exclusive as everyone feared, however there was no official mention of this in any panels.  More below…

So after the Hasbro panel, I visited the display box where the employees were setting up the new figures.  There is a lock box at the bottom of the display where all the toys are kept prior to being revealed.  The staff had to do this while everyone was ganged around the front of the case.  I, however, mulled around in the back and caught glimpse of something that shocked me: a small green G1 legion-class Hoist.  It was right there, plain as day.  One was in robot mode, the other in vehicle.  The female Hasbro staff then rolled it back into a sheet of bubble wrap and placed it back in the bottom of the case while the other staff member prepared Airachnid for display.  I didn’t have time to take a photograph and there were too many people in the way, but it was there.

This is what I saw, and that's my story, and I'm stickin' to it

G1 Hoist as a cyberverse or legion class figure was revealed months earlier in mock-up stage (check the image up top) and during those reveals, everyone in the USA cringed or cried at the thought of all those toys being exclusive to Asia, requiring import prices.  Well guess what guys?  It’s time to wake up and realize that some if not all of those toys will be seen in the USA at some point.  Hasbro has enough trouble producing a full toyline at all, let a lone two toylines concurrently that would be cut off from larger sales numbers by being sold in the USA.

TFCC Runabout and Shattered Glass Drift arrive pretty quick – Good job Funpub!

Classics Runabout Over-run TFCC Shattered Glass Drift

Vampire cars!

Lookie what arrived! The super-fast shipping of Fun Publications got these really nice exclusives to my door much quicker than expected. Runabout is looking hot and the Drift is cool, if you give a rats about Drift. Haven’t transformed them yet, but I thought I’d prove that the figures are actually arriving! Score one for Funpub, but just one! 😉

Botcon 2012 Shattered Glass Octopunch – a punch in the face

Botcon 2012 Shattered Glass SG Octopunch

Gawaaaah

Thanks Ebay for this horrifying look at what is coming for the Botcon 2012 exclusives. Here we have the brilliant choice of Octopunch as the Seaspray mold.

Seriously, why do we have to reach back so far as to use the shittiest of all Transformer lore in Botcon sets these days? Action masters and Pretenders sucked, they were and still are pathetic excuses for Transformer toys, and no amount of ret-conning or upgrades will change that fact. These things KILLED the Transformers franchise, let’s not celebrate them anymore, please? Alice was the only good pretender we ever got, and that still hasn’t become a toy!

Botcon 2012 Metalhawk mold – I changed my mind

Botcon 2012 Metalhawk could be the Terradive mold

I claim this sand in the name of Spain!

So I am reneging on my claim that Metalhawk would be the Cyclonus mold. I still think that is a wonderful option and would like to see it, but now that the Overlord choice threw me for such a loop, I am thinking of alternatives. So here we are: Terradive, my favorite Transformer toy of 2010, and actually ever. I think this has a great chance of becoming Metalhawk along side of the Banzaitroned-out Overlord.

But really we’ll all find out soon enough.

Botcon 2012 Gigatron / Overlord revealed! – Bludgeon mold with new head sculpt

Botcon 2012 Overlord

And this is why I didn't want to make a solid guess on the mold - insane!

As I was hoping, Overlord is the first figure to be revealed for this year’s Botcon 2012 boxset!  Wow!  What a surprise!  It’s in the ROTF Bludgeon mold, which is the first movieverse mold to ever be used as a Botcon exclusive.  Some say that ROTF Bludgeon is not really part of the movie universe, but it is, so there.  What could this mean for the rest of these figures?  Metalhawk as Terradive?  Oh dear me, the game just changed!
