Botcon 2011 Hall of Fame Ceremony – 20 minutes of Dark of the Moon footage?

Transformers Dark of the Moon Optimus Prime in destroyed Chicago

Chicago - it was a hell of a town!

Check out this article recently posted prepping press for Transformers Dark of the Moon on Coming Soon.

In the article it’s stated by the Coming Soon staff…

Bay is hesitant to call the film “bigger,” but everything we witnessed moments later in the Paramount theater screams “huge” (although we do understand what Bay meant story-wise). Of the nearly 20 minutes of footage shown to us (with an extra five shown in 3D), it’s clear Bay is taking the series to new heights in every respect.

So apparently there is already a nice packaged set of clips being pimped to the press.  I would be one to guess that this 20 minutes of footage is what we can expect to see at Botcon 2011’s Hall of Fame Ceremony which costs a whopping $50 extra to the already expensive trip.  So is this bit of footage going to be enough to whet your appetites?  Considering I saw the first whole movie at Botcon 2007 for about $20 extra, I am calling a bit of foul, but whatever.  They can screw us again and again and we’ll all keep coming to the convention.  Sucks to be addicted to plastic crack, don’t it?

Out of the way Hot Rod!

Hot Rodimii take on Megatron in the midst of his leader's climactic battle

There is always someone out there that can find a way to make you smile...

Amidst all my recent nerd rage regarding knock offs I came across this image and it at least calmed me back down to realizing this is all about toys in the end… plastic… plastic crack!

The quest for Black Animated Optimus Prime

Transformers Black Animated Optimus Prime

Black gold!

I must have it.

The black Animated Optimus Prime may be mine. The problem is that it is limited to 300 pieces and is only available on location at a store in a very remote area of Southern Japan. The cost is 4200 Yen and at 300 pieces I am willing to gander that this may reach the $300 USD mark the second you walk out of the store with it. But what do I know? Almost all of my predictions end up being wrong!!

Is is possible that this figure could reach the same price-status as BT-17 Black Convoy?  The potential is definitely there.  New black Optimus Primes are about as craze-inducing as MISB G1 toys so the world it its oyster.

Now how would one go about procuring one of these???  Curious curious…

Hasbro Masterpiece Grimlock – NEUTERED AGAIN!

Grimlock's been chompin' on too many planes again! - photo from ACtoys

Masterpiece Grimlock is coming to America. Photos of the finished version of Hasbro’s Masterpiece Grimlock were posted to ACtoys today.

Grimlock eats Thrust in the Transformers series 2 intro

Nom nom nom

However, he has apparently stopped for some dental work and a manicure along the way! Yes, we must lament the loss of more sharp edges in the transfer from Japan to the United States. Much like the Masterpiece Seeker mold, some of the pokey bits and sharp edges have been toned down for the US release by Hasbro. This is not a huge let-down or anything, as import collectors should be used to it by now. I appreciate the fact that this kind of stuff happens because it keeps each toy that much different. Another apparent change is the addition of white and red stripes on the upper shoulders of the robot mode and dino leg mode. It’s hard to tell if these are stickers or tampo-graphed on. Let’s root for tampos.

If the Canadian price is any indication, this version of the Masterpiece Dinobot Commander may be the cheapest yet! With original import prices of over $100 for either version of MP-08, those that waited for the US release may have a happier wallet, but an unhappier Dinobot. It just depends on which is more important to you – sharper plastic or cheaper plastic?

G1 Grimlock vs Diaclone Grimlock teeth comparison

History Repeats: What's next? Transformers halocaust!?! We are doomed!

This change in Grimlock’s dino-grill is just another indication of history repeating itself. When the diaclone version made its way to the US for the Transformers line, the teeth were filed down then too. It’s just one vicious circle of dental work. Let’s hope Big Grimmy was smart enough to have filled out his Hasbro benefits package and got this dental work paid for by the new Obama health care package! One can only hope…

Looks like everything is just as it was shown!
