Flight Dunny chase reveals – It’s Thundercracker and Skywarp

kid robot dunny flight chase thunder cracker

Seeker time!

As it turns out, the chases are indeed Thundercracker and Skywarp.  I was lucky enough to nab a Thundercracker in my 3 pack I got in store this morning at Rotofugi.  I also snagged some photos of the Starscream version with some of his more Transformers brethren.

Lucky draw SCF Skywarp PVC still exists!

Lucky Draw PVC SCF Skywarp from Japan

One of only 200 of these ever made

Sometimes I feel like I am nature videographer that has been sitting in a cove for a multitude of hours of end just to catch a glimpse of a rare creature.  Today is one of those days.

Friend excitedly contacted me and sent a link to Ebay.  Low and behold, photographs of an incredibly rare specimen: Takara’s Lucky Draw SCF Skywarp PVC – The rarest of the entire PVC line.

Leave it to Hasbro to completely destroy the luster of this figure by releasing skywarp as a regular pack-in during the Heros of Cybertron line a few years later.  So next time I hear the debate for Botcon Thundercracker being blasphemy, I’ll just bring this up and bring the pain.

The Takara version of Skywarp still demands high prices, as the starting bid of £150 suggests.  Good luck Shane, and godspeed!

Henkei Knock-offs not as pristine as believed – KO Skywarp compared to original

Henkei Skywarp compared to it's latest knock off

A variety of differences, although minute, exist between the original and KO.

Reports are coming in that the knock-off Henkei Seekers are anything but perfect replicas of their original namesakes. Thanks to an industrious post by a user at ACtoys, we have some images of the differences between two versions of this mold.

Although the thread is in Chinese, the pictures do reveal some telling differences:

  • Alternate rotation of hexagonal peg holes on the inner legs
  • Molding differences in various places such as the inner legs, the interior sides of the stomach area, and the tailfins.
  • The nosecone hangs from a higher point in robot mode on the KO than the original.
  • Rear thrusters appear to have a different paint app treatment

There are probably other differences as well.  It’s incredibly difficult to know the plastic quality from photos on the net so we’ll have to wait for some reviews.  See all the photos by visiting the post at ACtoys.

Where do I come up with this crap?

War For Cybertron character recap

A lot has happened since my last post. Two more characters for War for Cybertron were revealed yesterday, Autobot Warpath and Decepticon Barricade.  This is beefing up the roster quite a bit, although we already knew about Warpath (we just hadn’t seen his pretty face yet).  Barricade is another cross-generational character jumping into G1 canon from the controversial movie-verse just like Demolisher from Armada.

So I think it’s time for a little recap of the cast thus far.

Transformers War For Cybertron Autobots roster

What a fine looking group of individuals

  • Optimus Prime
  • Bumblebee
  • Ratchet
  • Ironhide
  • Warpath
  • Air Raid
  • Silverbolt
  • Jetfire
  • Jazz
  • Omega Supreme
Transformers War for Cybertron Decepticon roster thus far

Yeah, my money is probably going on these guys to win the war, err, game.

  • Megatron
  • Starscream
  • Skywarp
  • Thundercracker
  • Soundwave
  • Breakdown
  • Barricade
  • Shockwave
  • Demolisher
  • Trypticon

Exciting, exciting! If you look at the roster images above, you can see that a few characters are from the same body model – Starscream and Skywarp are the same, Ironhide and Ratchet share the same vehicle mode, and Barricade and Breakdown are in the same stance and could possible share the same model as well. There are many similarities, including their stance.

Warpath and all of the exclusive pre-order characters have complete unique stylings which is great to see. We can all expect to get a nice smattering of character designs this Summer.

So who wants to make some more predictions on characters we will see? I already guessed Lockdown, so it’s time to make some more guesses!

– I’m going to guess we’ll see Cliffjumper on the body style of Bumblebee.

– Super special unlockable Nemesis Version of Optimus Prime in black

– I still think we are going to see Onslaught as a Decepticon.
Feel free to share your own guesses by leaving a comment!

Revoltech Skywarp?

Revoltech Skywarp found on Ebay

100% haha! Famous last words, yet still intriguing...

During my daily stroll down Ebay Street, I found a rather peculiar auction image for TRANSFORMER REVOLTECH STARSCREAM GENUINE FIGURE AP746 that caught my attention.  That’s a Revoltech Starscream box, and a Revoltech Starscream mold, but those are not Revoltech Starscream COLORS.  Black and purple only belong to one Decepticon bruiser and we all know him well, our good buddy Skywarp.

The picture in this auction is a little hard to decipher since the collage was obviously created in Photoshop, but it’s difficult to tell whether the colors are legit or treated.  I seem to recall hearing murmours of Revoltech seeker repaints, but my memory is not serving me at this time.  For now you can check out the auctions here and decide for yourself whether this is a bootleg or the real thing.
