Transformers Movie Toys get a 10th Anniversary from TakaraTomy

Hi Transfans, and welcome to being a fucking old piece of shit.  The Transformers Movie by Michael Bay is now going to be 10 years old and TakaraTomy is celebrating this with a line of reissues with new accessories and figures.

Time flies when you’re getting your life together and working a full time job.

Of note is that the AOE reissue of Grimlock and Strafe include a brand new small riding character.  Yay.

Prepare for the return of Masterpiece Megatron, finally!

Let the slaughter begin! Digibash by someone that’s not me.

Alerts of a new terrorist threat hit Weibo (Chinese Twitter) today around 8:00 AM CST. Authorities were on the scene immediately and fortunately no civilians were hurt.  No terrorist organizations have yet taken responsibility for the attack, which has lead citizens of the world to surmize who the responsible parties may be. Many have pointed the finger at Third-party entities, while others believe an entirely new mysterious shadow organization called the attack. What is becoming clear as the day progresses is that this may actually be an inside job from the authorities at TakaraTomy of Japan. The company gave no comment when questioned.

Only time will tell, but until then, no one can sleep safe.

Did TakaraTomy just release the first ever Official Decepticon Justice Division figure? UW-06 Grand Galvatron

Is that you, Tarn?

Kudos to TakaraTomy for revealing the most bonkers combiner yet to be revealed amongst the Combiner Wars: Unite Warriors 06 Grand Galvatron!

Sold as a giftset, like most other Unite Warriors combiners, Grand Galvatron is the Japanese response to Hasbro’s Galvatronus. Much like Galvatronus is meant to force other robots to combiner with him, Grand Galvatron consists of mostly unexpected iterations of characters crossing many timelines and toylines.  The Ghost Starscream makes the most sense, but then we kick the dial up a few notches past heroin over-dose and Thrust from Armada drops over for hit, along with his new buddy Breakdown from Transformers: Prime.  But the party really starts once we realize IDW’s own Roller has dropped a few squares and we realize just what kind of friends we’ve made.

Such an innocent face

Named “Wandering Roller”, this redeco of Rook is actually a pretty smart move.  The alt mode is completely grey, just like the original G1 Roller, and the bot mode takes on the essence of Orion Pax’s early-day buddy who we lost somewhere along the way… or did we?

If you’re a follower of Collecticon, then you should be well aware of this site’s hunch that Roller = Tarn of the Decepticon Justice Division. We aren’t expecting a confirmation one way or the other until maybe this time in 2016, but it sure is one of the great mysteries of More Than Meets The Eye.

It sure is suspect that Grand Galvatron decided to pull all Decepticons into the folder for his combiner except for one… so just why is he there?  Keep you eyes here to find out the moment we do!

MP9 Masterpiece Rodimus vs New Masterpiece Hot Rod

Who wore it better?

A friend of mine posted this image to Faceballz today and we started discussing it.  I love you Hot Rod, but you’ve got a bit of Optimus Primal disease.

I’ve taken the liberty to re-adjust the proportions of his waist-down and head to match his upper body.  It looks heavenly, but we can wish in one hand…

Not the Hot Rod we want, but the Hot Rod we deserve.

If anything, this has brought to light just how incredible MP9 really was, in terms of concept and design.  The production quality did suffer, but it was a very ambitious Masterpiece figure that I hope will begin to grow on people because the figure had really incredibly accurate vehicle and robot modes.  The modes were to a level that I really don’t feel many Transformer toys can match.

Here is another comparison look at MP9, the new Hot Rod, and our dream-version of Hot Rod front and center.  Le sigh.

Salt in the wound.

Join Masterpiece Shockwave and Hot Rod on their 3 week Machu Picchu hiking trip – bring a back pack!

First time hiking, guys?

Divine powers continue to wash us over with delights as new full-color photographs featuring Masterpiece Shockwave and Masterpiece Hot Rod hit the web today. It’s of note that TFsource posted grainier versions with “DO NOT COPY” plastered all over them.  I lol’d.

The full photos displaying the accessories and alt-modes are just as glorious as the initial reveal a few days ago.  There’s just one aspect shared by both of these guys that I can’t help but mention and that’s the absolutely enormous backpacks. It looks like these dudes independently graduated college and heading out on a quest to ‘find themselves’ in a foreign land. I suppose neither took the time to watch or read “Wild” either.

Backpacks aside, both of these are just simply awesome additions to the Masterpiece line.  Shockwave appears to have a lot of customization available such as options of styles of hands (clear or opaque), his own “Shockwave” gun, a detachable hose, and you can even omit his cannon-hand!

Look at the hands!!!

Hot Rod still looks a little bit like two different sized robots cut in half and re-attached at the waist.  He also appears to be following a bit in the footsteps of Masterpiece Rodimus Prime with his accordion style chest transformation.  Well, we just can’t have it all and I cannot wait to get these guys in hand.  Great work TakaraTomy!

MP27 is Laserwave or Shockwave – God hath smiled upon thee this day

Praise be, praise be.

In a stunning turn of events, it appears today we have been given concrete proof that there is a God. For some strange reason, the only news outlets reporting this momentous and unexpected revelation are Transformers Fan websites.

More on this story at a 11.  Back to you Roddy.

TakaraTomy answers long-time Transformers purist collectors’ prayers – MP-18B Blue Bluestreak is born!

My blue heaven!

If you’ve been following this blog at all, which if you have then I probably know you in real life, then you know I’ve been fiending for a Masterpiece Blue Diaclone Bluestreak figure.  This is unanimously THE UNICORN of all Generation 1 collecting.  The only remotely close second would be blue-chested Swoop.  Then you got Red Tracks I guess but who’s counting now?  The point is, we now have a somewhat mass release version of one of the greatest enigmas to ever grace Transformers since its inception.

The original G1 Bluestreak instruction manual, taken from Unicron.com

The news post about this I saw near midnight last night almost made me jump out of bed in joyous celebration, since I’ve been waiting to get my hands on this piece since the car brothers were initially made into Masterpieces.  The MP-18S Silverstreak toy was such a freakin’ letdown that I figured it was a troll move that we would never really see Bluestreak in the flesh.  Those fears are quelled as of today and I’m sorry to admit, but I plan to buy THEM ALL!  Sources indicate that this will be a limited run of about 2000, but no convention has been listed as its release platform.  Whatever the method, you can bet your tuccus that I will be first in line to preorder this baby!

TakaraTomy AD-32 Stinger is coming…

The Decepticon Swarm

This is the best MP22 Ultra Magnus photo I’ve seen yet

He just a ‘lil guy at heart!

Hollar from the hills boys, MP-22 Ultra Magnus is out!

Transformers Cloud wave 3 Rodimus and Shockwave confirmed! Awesome!

Arise Rodimus… yeah just Rodimus, ok?

After many months of hoping and speculating, it’s been proven true that some of the strange toy-based iterations of characters drawn in TakaraTomy’s Transformers Cloud series are seeing releases!  We saw Rodimus at the inception of the toyline sporting the highly popular Triple-changing Springer Mold from Generations and an ominous Voyager Whirl-based Shockwave scientist.  Both were discovered on display today at the 2014 Tokyo Toy Show.  Also on display were photos of MP-22 Ultra Magnus in full color!  See more at TFW.

There’s only so many toys with only one eye!
