Encore 23 Fortress Maximus includes the master sword, again.

Transformers Encore 23 Fortress Maximus with Master Sword

Read it and rejoice

Considering that I already told you that the reissue Fortress Maximus would include the master sword, I shouldn’t need to post this.

So here’s even more proof, thanks Professor Smooth! E-hobby to the rescue. So now please refrain from asking if he includes the sword on messages boards from here on out. He does.

Encore 23 Fort Max includes his sword

Transformers Encore 23 Fortress Maximus with sword

All but verbally confirmed.

Some official preview photos of the slew of upcoming releases were posted by Famitoy which include our first look at the expected Black repaint of MP-10 (this time with Decepticon symbols!!), MP-15 & MP-16 cassetticons, the non-yellow ‘anime’ version of MP-22 Devastator, and Encore 23 Fortress Maximus WITH THE MASTER SWORD IN HAND!!! Check out the pic above to see what I’m talking about.

This has been the big question to Fort Max reissue lovers: Will it have the sword? Looks like yes, it probably will.

Also, THIS GUY is very happy to not have Encore 22A be a yellow G1 redeco because… well, I just got THIS in the mail. I’ll give you a hint, it’s not from Generation 2…

Transformers Generation 1 Yellow Devastator from France

So rare, I may be the only person on Earth to have this. Thanks Maz! ^_^

Transformers Encore 23 is Fortress Maximus :-O

Generation 1 Fortress Maximus toy

Ohhhhh baby!

I’m speechless.

I head over to BBTS today and see that they have a new listing for Kababy Fort Max. “That’s strange…” I think to myself. Then I realize that holy hell, it is not the kabaya but a flesh and plastic reissue of Fortress Maximus!

My mind is kind of messed up about this.  As a long-time owner of an original Fort Max that I worked an allowance up for 5 months to get at age 6, I feel this is not quite fair.  However, there is an extreme lack of Fort Max’s in the world, and now this will be a chance for everyone to get him.

Will aftermarket prices plummet?  Will you be shamed if you had just bought an original for $1000?

Chances are that this version will include many new tampographs in the place of stickers and hopefully some other little goodies or details that were not on the original.  This of course helps us differentiate from the original 20+ year old version.  Regardless of how I feel about the re-release of one of the fandom’s most holy grails, I pre-ordered one.

Oh yeah, also MP-15 is a Rumble & Ravage set that we already knew was coming.

Encore cassette repaint identities revealed – GASP!

Transformers Encore Enemy Wingthing Nightstalker Stripes cassetticons

They share more than just weapons...

As indicated just a little bit ago, the cassette robot repaint is the first official transforming iteration of a character referred to as Enemy.  He was originally a Microchange-exclusive color scheme for Soundwave’s humanoid minion.

Serendipity stirkes again as the Ratbat repaint is identified as a transforming version of Soundwave’s Actionmaster partner, Wingthing!  How deliciously appropriate considering that’s been the most out-of-place minion for Soundwave yet.  Now he has a proper home in Soundblaster’s chest.

Onto the Autobots, which are a little more obscure.  (Really?  More obscure than that crap?)

The red Ravage is meant to be a character that only existed in pre-canon move draft lore.  His name is Stripes and he was replaced by Ramhorn in the final iteration of Transformers: The Movie.  Notice that he exchanges his weapons with the black version of Steeljaw known as…

NIGHTSTALKER!  This black Steeljaw is from the UK continuity of comics where Nightstalker and Ravage were originally buddies.  Soon enough though, Ravage turns to the dark side and becomes loyal to Megatron.  I had never, ever heard of this wacky shit.  I’m just not a comic guy I guess.

So what does this mean for collectors?  Well if you never had a Soundblaster or Twincast, I guess this is your shining moment because these two come with the greatest cassetticon accessories in history.  Do these figures stand up to the task?

“I will buy Soundblaster” says Cassetticon enthusiast Deceptigtar.  There you have it folks.

Transformers Encore revived with Soundblaster, Twincast, ENEMY, and 2 other WTF cassettes!

Transformers Encore series Soundblaster Twincast and ENEMY

Collecting cassettes just got a smidge more fucking insane.

TakaraTomy has supplied us with plenty of “WTF?!?!” moments this year and here comes another!!!  The Transformers Encore Series is BACK and weirder than ever as it becomes  home to Soundblaster and Twincast again.  Don’t roll your eyes just yet though, they sure found a way to make you get plastic scratch fever: Soundblaster now comes bearing a never-before-seen BLUE Cassette door much like his Headmasters appearance.  THERE’S MORE THOUGH – 4 apparently brand new cassetticons!  A red Ratbat, red autobot Ravage, black autobot Steeljaw, and best of all, OFFICIAL TRANSFORMERS ENEMY!!!  Enemy is a weird hold-over from the Microman days.  The original Frenzy/Rumble mold was released in Microman as a red / blue amalgamation.

Soundblaster as seen in the incredibly-hard-to-watch Headmasters cartoon

No changes to the Twincast mold as far as I can see.  I guess that’s why he comes with the batshit crazy cassette repaints.

TFsource put the preorders up just now so check it out now if you must – SoundblasterTwincast.
